Globalization Timelines

The timelines below index instances in which architecture embodied global networks, identities, materials, and ideologies during the long 19th century from 1750 through World War I. Created through a collaboration between students at Syracuse University and Hong Kong University, in courses taught by professors Jonathan Massey at Syracuse and Cole Roskam at HKU Hong Kong with Prof. Darren Zhou at HKU Shanghai, the timeline focuses on buildings, architects, events, and practices that linked cities around the world to New York, Hong Kong, and Shanghai.

The primary timeline, ARCHITECTURE & GLOBALIZATION, contains many of the entries created by students from both universities. The majority of entries are contained in separate timelines, links to which appear in the spreadsheet below.
